Origin
Indoor Creature formed in Austin, Texas in 2019. What started as a small project quickly grew into a six-piece as the sound demanded more: saxophone, synths, hand drums, a whole sonic world that couldn't be contained in a smaller lineup.
Since then the band has played over 100 shows and completed two national tours — always chasing unusual venues. Pool halls, science labs, yoga studios, basketball courts. If the room has good energy, Indoor Creature will find it.
Sound
Some people call it "sexy nerd pop." The band calls it "Lo-fi Yacht Rock." Either way, it's a blend that resists easy categorization — smooth saxophone melodies woven through soulful guitar riffs, jazz-cool rhythms, and lyrics that tackle things most pop songs won't touch: growing up, climate change, dreams both literal and deferred.
The live show is the real thing. Expect solos that go somewhere unexpected, an atmosphere that shifts between intimate and electric, and a band that seems genuinely surprised by how good the night got.
Recorded Work
Indoor Creature have released multiple records via The Record Machine, including the full-lengths Living in Darkness (2021) and Who's Afraid To Look? (2025). Music videos for "American Dream," "Ocean Blue," and "Cross the Line" are available on their YouTube channel.
